Only Once In Your Life

Only once in your life, I truly believe, you find someone who can completely turn your world around.

You tell them things that you’ve never shared with another soul and they absorb everything you say and actually want to hear more.

You share hopes for the future, dreams that will never come true, goals that were never achieved and the many disappointments life has thrown at you.

When something wonderful happens, you can’t wait to tell them about it, knowing they will share in your excitement.

They are not embarrassed to cry with you when you are hurting or laugh with you when you make a fool of yourself. Never do they hurt your feelings or make you feel like you are not good enough, but rather they build you up and show you the things about yourself that make you special and even beautiful.

There is never any pressure, jealousy or competition but only a quiet calmness when they are around.

You can be yourself and not worry about what they will think of you because they love you for who you are. The things that seem insignificant to most people such as a note, song or walk become invaluable treasures kept safe in your heart to cherish forever.

Memories of your childhood come back and are so clear and vivid it’s like being young again.

Colours seem brighter and more brilliant.

Laughter seems part of daily life where before it was infrequent or didn’t exist at all.

A phone call or two during the day helps to get you through a long day’s work and always brings a smile to your face.

In their presence, there’s no need for continuous conversation, but you find you’re quite content in just having them nearby.

Things that never interested you before become fascinating because you know they are important to this person who is so special to you.

You think of this person on every occasion and in everything you do. Simple things bring them to mind like a pale blue sky, gentle wind or even a storm cloud on the horizon.

You open your heart knowing that there’s a chance it may be broken one day and in opening your heart, you experience a love and joy that you never dreamed possible.

You find that being vulnerable is the only way to allow your heart to feel true pleasure that’s so real it scares you.

You find strength in knowing you have a true friend and possibly a soul mate who will remain loyal to the end.

Life seems completely different, exciting and worthwhile. Your only hope and security is in knowing that they are a part of your life.

I Can't Complain

I can't complain is a common answer that many use when asked the question, "How are you doing?"

A friend answered me that way recently. "I can't complain."

I thought about it.

Yes you can.

Yes you can complain. You can complain about virtually anything. Even if one area of your life is virtually perfect, there will be something in another area that could use improving. There will be something that you can complain about.

The poor have complaints. The middle has complaints. The rich have complaints. Those with little power have complaints. The president has complaints.

Due to the very nature of life, there will always be things that you can complain about, that's not the question nor the issue.

The question is, "Will you?"

Will you see the beauty or the bump? The glory or the gory? That which you have or that which you perceive that you lack? The excellent or the terrible?

Depending upon your viewpoint, you will either praise or complain.

Listen to the sermon, "See The Beauty" an adventure in seeing the beauty in less than ideal situations.

So how am I doing?

Excellent!

Tested

I know everything happens for a reason. I don't believe in luck or happenstance. Whether good our bad things happen to serve a purpose. Sometimes I don't know the reason or even understand it. But there is a reason nonetheless. Recently my front right tire went flat as I was driving home from Lompoc, CA to Long Beach, CA. I had a flashback of a driver who suffered a blowout. I exit the freeway and pull into a gas station. I'm safe, AAA comes and gives me a tow home. The next day I get the tire replaced. Then yesterday as I'm driving to work praying to God to bless my journey, my right rear tire pops. I had to immediately swerve to my right to get off the freeway. Once again I call aaa but this time I have already used up my four free calls. So $60 later the spare is put on my car and I drive to the auto shop to get a new tire once again. Also it turns out on that same wheel, I had to replace two lugnuts and a stud. Needless to say I had to miss work. At this point my funds are under $20. I'm struggling to see how I'm going to make it through the week. But that's not all. I know God is keeping and blessing me anyway. I'm grateful to be alive and I give all my pause to the most high God. He is worthy. Yes, I do feel tested but it's okay because God will deliver. And thank you Rhee for being there for me. Even though you live the furthest away, you actually took time to answer my calls. I called co workers who lived near the area of where I was stranded and didn't get a single answer. I have been tested justly and I still look up for my help. This is what I've been going through for the past for days. God bless you all.
