Many people have said the serenity prayer but few realize the power in the words. This entry will focus on courage to change the things you can. Yes, certain things are out of our control but there are some things that we must stand up and fight for. We have free will. That gives us power. The power to choose is an amazing thing. So be courageous and choose wisely. I have had many unfortunate events recently. Some wounds have been reopened and other scars have healed. I choose to be courageous through it all. Yes, I've been hurt. I have been kicked while I was down. I have been betrayed in the worst way but I still choose to control the outcome. There is purpose in all of our lives. Without it there would be no reason to exist. Do not choose to be a victim, there's no courage in that. Instead, choose to fight. Stand up for your rights. No one has power over you unless you relinquish it to them. I'm going to fight back. I stand for truth, justice and respect. My courage will rest in my ability to face all things head on and with the power of God. My story has only begun and change will always be evident. But it is I who will choose how I respond. "courage to change the things I can." Freewill is my catalyst to engineer the courage I need to overcome for that is what I'm destined to do.

Because I'm Black
Because I'm black I'm already categorized and prejudiced before I even open my mouth. Because I'm black I have to work smarter and harder than the next one or else I'm presumed as lazy. Because I'm black you already think you have me figured out because of the way my people are portrayed in modern media. According to you I mistreat and disrespect women because that's how my people are displayed. But you don't even know me. You don't know my individual beliefs or what I stand for. I guess I'm just guilty until proven innocent. My skin doesn't define who I am within. Don't tell me sorry you're not into black guys and say you're not racist; It's just a preference. That's a hot load of B.S. and I'm not buying it. Furthermore, others who shy away or get intimated just by me walking down the street, understand that I'm harmless. Respect me the way I respect you. I don't like to play the so called race card but goodness gracious, come on people. It's the 21st century. Stop trying to give me a title, just call me by my name. I am not a color, I am a human being just like you. My heart beats, my blood is red when I am cut. I breathe the same air as you. Even though you judge me and criticize me and fill your eyes with hate towards me, I still love you and pray God have mercy on you all. Hasty generalization is a fallacy. Instead of categorizing an entire group based on color, religion or any other factor; how about you start to understand and appreciate the individual. Because I'm black, I am strong. Because I'm black, I'll sing my song. And even though most times the deck is stacked. I will hold my ground and be thankful because I AM BLACK.
